Terms of Service
HowToHelp is a free, volunteer-run civic-education initiative. We take no donations and run no advertising. By using howtohelp.in, requesting a workshop, volunteering, or taking a course, you agree to these terms.
1. What HowToHelp is (and isn't)
We publish practical, sourced guides on civic processes (RTI, grievances, government schemes, and similar topics) and run volunteer-delivered school workshops and self-paced courses. We are not a law firm, government body, or emergency service. Nothing on this site is legal, medical, or financial advice — always verify against the primary government source or a qualified professional for anything time-critical or high-stakes.
2. Article content and AI generation
Some articles are generated with AI assistance (Google Gemini) from public sources, then reviewed before publishing; others are written directly by our editorial team. We try hard to keep information accurate and current, but government rules and forms change — always check the source links in an article before acting on it. If you spot an error, tell us and we will correct it.
3. Workshop requests (schools)
Submitting a workshop request is a request, not a guaranteed booking — availability depends on volunteer capacity in your area. We reserve the right to decline or reschedule a workshop, including for child-safety or logistical reasons.
4. Volunteering
Volunteers deliver workshops on our behalf but are not employees or agents of a registered legal entity acting with financial authority — HowToHelp takes no donations and handles no money on anyone's behalf. Volunteers agree to:
- Follow our child-safety guidance (see the volunteer resources page) at every school visit.
- Never photograph a child identifiably without the school's and parents' consent.
- Represent the material honestly and avoid promoting personal, political, or commercial interests during a workshop.
- Log visits accurately — visit records help us understand our own reach and are not used for any purpose beyond that.
We may suspend or remove volunteer access at our discretion, particularly for any breach of child-safety guidance.
5. Student learning portal
The Learn portal is intended for students, with a parent's or guardian's permission if the student is under 18. Course completion and quiz results are for the student's own learning record — certificates are self-generated and are not a government or institutional credential.
6. Accounts
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. We may suspend an account used to abuse the site (spam submissions, scripted misuse of forms, harassment).
7. Content reuse
Articles are published under CC BY 4.0 — you may republish or cite them with attribution back to HowToHelp and a link to the original article.
8. No warranty, limitation of liability
The site, its content, and its portals are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, HowToHelp and its volunteers are not liable for decisions made based on information found here, or for outcomes of a workshop or volunteer visit. Government deadlines, fees, and procedures should always be confirmed against the official source before you rely on them.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the platform grows. We'll update the "last updated" date above whenever we make a material change.
